Goal: Trying to get the community aware of the Roc Solid Foundation. Milestone's build was the first in Milwaukee.
Milestone Plumbing ‘Play It Forward’ project
Milestone Plumbing is deeply committed to team-building and contributions to their community. Those two goals came together when Founder Jessie Cannizzaro enlisted her staff to build a backyard playset for a child undergoing cancer treatments. In partnership with the Roc Solid Foundation, a nonprofit that organizes support for young cancer patients and their families, the project required the Milestone team to plan and carry out a mini construction project that would take place in one day at the child’s home.
As Jessie’s team was making their plans, the Third Eye Local team got to work on a strategy to support and promote the project. A team “Play It Forward” T‑shirt, a news release, and social media posts built excitement in advance and lined up media interest. On the day of the build, our team was on site to capture video, help staff a hospitality tent for family and friends, and pass a hammer now and then. A TMJ4 reporter conducted interviews and shot video.
Our client’s needs and how we met them:
- Bring attention to the Roc Solid Foundation. This was the first Roc Solid playset build in the Milwaukee area, and we succeeded in getting the word out about what a great cause it is. The Milestone build sparked at least eight other playset builds in the midwest, helped in part by Jessie’s status as an influencer in the trades.
- Spotlight Milestone Plumbing’s image as a committed community partner.
- Create a positive team-building experience and underscore Milestone’s commitment to volunteerism. Everyone had a role to play as the project came together and then watched the child’s joy when she saw her finished playset. The team knows that working at Milestone means helping their community.
All this was a boost for the brand — and a boost for us, too, as we shared a meaningful moment with our client and her wonderful team. The lives of almost everyone at Milestone have been touched by cancer. Their deep sense of empathy and caring made an impact on everyone involved.
