Fazio’s State Fair Blue Ribbon promotion

When Fazio’s Sweet Moments Sweet Life, a family-run chocolate boutique in Elm Grove, WI, received first place and Best of Show awards at the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair, it was big news. We knew this had the potential to bring statewide attention to the brand, and we made the most of it through media outreach, social posts, and online content. We had outstanding earned media results. When Elm Grove’s two state legislators issued a special citation for the achievement, it gave us another chance to revisit the story and bring more attention to Fazio’s products.

Our media outreach focused on co-owner Cindy Karrel’s unique story about a mid-life career change and her aha” moment discovering the world of culinary chocolate. Media outlets responded to her enthusiasm, her commitment to top-notch ingredients and her talent for creative taste combinations. 

 

Our client’s needs and how we met them:

  • Generate excitement about both the awards and the confections that earned them. The TEL team produced creative posts to showcase the Fazio team and their blue-ribbon candies, with continual updates about store hours and shopping online. Decade of Decadence, the limited-edition confection that won the blue ribbon, became a permanent part of the product line due to the demand the State Fair buzz created.
  • Bring attention to the story through earned media. In addition to media mentions of the Blue Ribbon award, Cynthia was interviewed by Wisconsin Public Radio for Wisconsin Today,” WTMJ radio for their WTMJ Conversations” podcast, and the Shepherd Express for a feature story.
